In most orchestras, the positions of Music Director and Conductor are almost always held by the same person. We had had an unusual leadership structure for many years, with Herb serving as our music director and George as our conductor. (The Music Director is responsible for selecting the music, and of course the Conductor leads most of the performances.) After Herb moved to Texas, George assumed the more traditional Conductor and Music Director role.
“I really appreciate your leadership, your organizational skills, your clear emails and how friendly you are to the members.
I’ll always remember how welcoming you all were to me when I first joined.”
